Adventure is a magnificent word. In its broadest sense it means going forward, accepting positively that life will always be a journey with a degree of uncertainty. In its narrower, more conventional sense, adventure refers to those challenging pursuits necessary to explore the oceans, deserts, mountains and other wild places on the planet.
Spirit is also a magnificent word. Everything in Nature has a spirit. In the human being it does not physically exist, yet down through the history of man, it has always been recognised as the most important aspect of being human. This spirit, or essence, is the base of our values and what we value determines our actions. To begin to understand spirit, each of us needs to take the longest journey of all - the journey into self. This is yet another adventure, one that is mysterious, often confusing, yet always exciting. Towards the end of my life I now have glimmerings of understanding of who I am, where I am going, and how I get there. Contentment increases, as with truth, comes an increasing sense of freedom.
